Reigate Liberal Democrats select Jane Kulka12.00.00am GMT Wed 15th Nov 2006 Reigate Liberal Democrats have selected Jane Kulka to be their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. Jane was the Parliamentary Candidate for Reigate for the past two elections, last time winning second place and pushing Labour into third. Commenting on her selection Jane said, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to once again improve the prospects of the Lib Dems in Reigate. I am confident that support will continue to grow in this constituency. Local people have welcomed us leading the fight to improve this area. Whether it's our commitment to protecting our environment, listening to the concerns of residents or improving public services, they know Liberal Democrats are on their side." Jane has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since its formation. Jane has worked in various capacities for the local party and prior to her selection as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, was Chair of the Reigate Constituency Party. She was a Councillor on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council for eight years; Jane was group leader for two of those, along with chairing the General Purposes & Property and Communications Committees and being Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee. Jane is married to Steve and they have two grown children. She has lived in Reigate constituency for the past 20 years and in Surrey nearly all her life. Jane works as a Manager of Finance and Human Resources at a Further Education College for people with disabilities, responsible for a £6M budget. Before joining the College she was a computer applications trainer. Jane was originally an analyst programmer and developed insurance systems for leading brokers.
Jane has worked in our local community for many years. She has been a Governor at various local schools for the past 17 years. She currently chairs the governing body of a highly successful local secondary school. She has been involved with the Redhill Police and Community Partnership Group, the Earlswood Common Management Group, Redhill Town Centre Management Group and is a member of the Earlswood Residents Association.
